Sony ICF-2010 (1984-2003)

The Sony ICF-2010 and ICF-2001d (different name-same radio) was perhaps the single most popular SW radio ever produced. It was in production continuously from 1984 until 2003, probably a record for any piece of consumer electronics! (Does anyone know how to find out if that is true?)

However, just because the radio was very popular and was produced for so long, it doesn't mean there is no way to improve it! I mean, we're radio enthusiasts after all!

Here's a link to get you to a copy of the Sony ICF-2010/2001d Resource File Maintained by MARE and presented to you as a public service. ONE MORE INSTANCE OF ANYONE LINKING OR PROVIDING THE 'DIRECT' URL TO THE RESOURCE FILE RATHER THAN THIS (or the Main MARE) PAGE ON A MAILLIST WILL RESULT IN US PULLING THE RESOURCE FILE -- PLEASE DON'T MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

For those who just can't get enough of links to our favourite receiver....
(Here's the archive of Sriram's 2010 resource page which is no longer on the web) (Click your browser’s ‘back’ button to return here!)
(And a neat technical reference summary from MAREite Larry Russell!)
(Steve Johnston's take on some improvements for the 2010)
(Dave Z (N9EWO)'s take on the 2010)

and lastly, here's a link to the official Sony 2010 Spec page (Hit your browser's back button to return here). This link is no longer 'on the web' but this 'historical record' of a past web page is available from the 'wayback machine' a web service of some value. Check out the web archive for more info on this service!

And here are some FAQs concerning other radios
